Management Committee

Portishead Playgroups is run by a Management Committee consisting of volunteer parents. The Committee is an important and essential part of the life of the Playgroup and is made up of parents who wish to contribute the running of the Playgroup. Committee meetings are held every half term. The Committee is currently made up of:

Name Role
John Furness Chairperson
Lisa Morgan Treasurer
Ruth Mitchell Secretary
Rachel Hollier Management Committee Member
Maggie Furness Management Committee Member
Karen Millington Management Committee Member

Committee members are voted into position by parents of the Playgroup at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in October each year. The Playgroup adopts the constitution of the Pre-School Learning Alliance.

Management of the Playgroup.

Staff Retention, Staff Recruitment, Budgeting, Health & Safety, Training Budgets, Maintenance of facilities,
Setting Pay Scales, Paying Wages.

Fundraising.

Income from fundraising forms an essential part of the Playgroup budget. Playgroups receive very little public funding and therefore rely heavily on fundraising to provide the toys and equipment necessary to give the children the high standard of education that the Playgroup demands. Portishead Playgroups is a registered charity.

Would you like to help ?

Volunteers are regularly needed to join the Committee as members naturally move on as their children leave the Playgroup. It can be very rewarding to be involved with your child's Playgroup, to feel that you are contributing to a successful Playgroup. It goes without saying that it is great fun and an excellent way to extend your circle of friends.

If you are interested in becoming a Committee Member or finding out more about what is involved, please contact any member of staff or alternatively contact the Management Committee directly.  We look forward to hearing from you.
