1. Welcome.

  • Sally welcomed everyone to the meeting.

2. Agree and sign minutes from last meeting.

  • These were signed and agreed.

3. Matters arising from last meeting.

  • Graffiti and railings at Hilltop - very aware but unfortunately hall in process of being dealt with at probate, nothing to happen at present. Trees not cut down as yet - Sally will keep in contact with North Somerset Council. Changes can be made to inside of hall at Hilltop to make it more child friendly. Some notice boards donated also new ones bought and these will be placed onto wall entrance this week and throughout the hall.

4. Chair's Report.

  • Policies. These have now been updated, all page referenced and pointed. Parents to be informed of changes via newsletter. If any objections are received policies can be reviewed. Policies were approved by Committee and Staff and dated and signed accordingly. They will be adopted at Next AGM. Nappy changing policy still to be added.

  • Sue Youle visited Hilltop today, everything fine.

  • Child Safe Seminars, one being on September 13th at Police Headquarters between 7-8.30pm, there is also one in Weston-Super-Mare and Clevedon at different times. Staff to let Sally know who will be available to go.

  • Meeting recently held about Hilltop regarding numbers as High Down made an impact this year. It was proposed to have a leaflet drop in that area and flyers to say where Hilltop is, staff ratio, flexibility, etc. Sally asked if Brampton wanted to be added, Rose was happy to add name but do not push for numbers.

  • Peter Melson has been looking at website and is to add how people find out about us with some feedback.

  • Rising 5s is to be changing to 'Preparation for School', people do not realise what this session entails and it will hopefully work a little better. Staff will decide how they need to fill numbers for next year. Sue Marshall suggested she can take some flyers into Charlcombe Rise new estate. Advertising for Playgroup is now happening in Portishead Paper every other month.

  • Sally mentioned Newsletter for Brampton and would Rose like to take over this.

  • Julia Gregory will be stepping down at AGM, Kath and Suzi will also be stepping down at that time, anybody interested in standing on the committee to let Sally know.

  • Date for summer fete to be suggested for Saturday 1 July 2006, still to be at Brampton, say, 12-3pm. Rose has a fridge/freezer she can let us borrow for the day. Brewster Bear may open fete.

  • Thanks to Hilltop staff for fabulous teamwork with sickness recently and also thanks to Brampton for all their help with policies.

5. Treasurer's Report.

  • Julia was absent but wanted to check if funding forms have been done. No money worries at present.

6. Brampton Report.

  • Nothing to report from Rose. Everybody loved talk from Sally on what nurses do.

7. Brampton Parent Rep's Report.

  • None.

8. Hilltop Report.

  • Carole desperately needs A4 paper. Note to be put out in Newsletter asking for any help from parents.

  • Photographer coming on 13th March.

  • Leaflets to go out a.s.a.p. for both playgroups on what we can offer as nursery places are being currently offered at High Down. All staff to make parents aware.

  • 2-3 year session is now settling down.

9. Hilltop Parent Rep's Report.

  • Could next Quiz Night be held at pub as more husbands would come. Sally made aware that beer is being served and lighting will be lower.

10. Any Other Business.

  • Quiz Night. Sales to date, Hilltop 2 teams, Brampton 5 teams. Staff teams to be made up. Committee Newsletter to mention people turn up and make team on the night. Larger chairs are being obtained from Clarence House, no strip lights, beer and wine being served, nibbles as well - all a bit of fun. Raffle prizes are being organised for the night and gratefully received. Fundraising does go back into the playgroups for toys, etc.

  • Yellow Moon. Flyers gone out on all catalogues, reminders to be done in next month or so. 25% commission on all orders. First cheque in September then January follows.

  • Kitchen cupboards for Hilltop needed, mention to parents.

  • Sally suggested night out at Brewsters for Thursday night at 8pm just for a drink.

11. Next Meeting.

  • Next committee meeting will be held at Brampton on Monday 24th April at 8pm.
