1. Agree and sign minutes from last meeting.

  • These were signed and agreed.
 
 

2. Matters arising from last meeting.

  • After speaking to Rose and Carole, Sally is writing the Playgroup Parents information guide, which will be given to new parents from September in the form of a ring binder.

  • Mr Gerrish, the winner of the logo competition has been thanked for all the help he has given playgroup. He is currently producing a poster for the summer fete.
 
  • The TV and video have been sold.
 
  • Wording on the web site has been changed to read staff vacancies.
 
  • Staff barbecue has been cancelled as the date clashed with Portishead Primary school fete.
 
 

3. Chair's Report.

  • Thank you to everyone who helped preparing for the carnival and on the day. The total raised was £245.
 
  • New logo is now on staff shirts and children's t-shirts. The T-shirts are almost sold out, more are on order. The logo is now being used on all paperwork.
 
  • Sally has e-mailed the newspapers about the logo competition.
 
  • Hilltop and Brampton will be having an Open Day on 1st September for new parents and children to meet the staff and complete any necessary paperwork.
 
  • Flyers advertising the playgroups are being given out by the Estate Agents in the High Street.
 
 

4. Treasurer's Report.

  • The Education Grants have now been received and were higher than expected. This means we should break even at the end of the year.
 
  • Some of our suppliers have been changed to companies which are both easier to contact and more cost effective. Severn Graphics are being used for stationery and Monsoon for uniforms.
 
  • Servicing the fire alarm was discussed. One company contacted quoted £180 p.a. Other companies will be contacted for prices.
 
 

5. Brampton Report.

  • It was agreed that we would pay for the cost of cover if a helper and supervisor attended a free course for a day.
 
  • Surestart Concert is being held on 7th July at Somerset Hall. Children who attend Brampton on Thursday morning will be singing Mr Clickety with Bill.
 
  • Pictures drawn and painted by children from Hilltop and Brampton will be on display at the Flower Show.
 
  • Noah's Ark visit is on 30th June.
 
  • The In Service day went well.
 
  • A lady from Usborne's books will be visiting on 22nd June.
 
 

6. Brampton Parent Rep's Report.

  • Arrangements for the Leavers Party are going well.
 
 

7. Hilltop Report.

  • Noah's Ark visit is also on 30th June.
 
  • Leavers Party is in hand.
 
  • In Service day was brilliant and enjoyed by everyone.
 
  • Carole feels the Risk Assessment Insurance should be updated, Julia and Sally will do this.

  • There has been a good response to the new logo.
 
  • Children's T-shirts are very popular.
 
  • One of the railings outside the building has rusted through and could be dangerous, and the automatic closing mechanism on the kitchen door has broken, therefore the heavy door is quite dangerous. Sally will contact the council as a matter of urgency about both problems.

8. Hilltop Parent Rep's Report.

  • None.
 
 

9. Any Other Business.

  • Summer Fete will be held on 9th July 12.00 - 3.00pm at Brampton. Mike Gerrish is producing a poster to advertise the event. A flyer will also be distributed.
 
  • Carole has agreed to have an American Supper at her house on Thursday 14th July. Staff, committee members and parent rep's are all welcome.
 
  • Raffle tickets will soon be given out to parents for the fete raffle.
 
  • The committee also thanked all the parents, children and staff for their fantastic support throughout the last year, and hope everyone enjoys the summer break.
 
 

10. Next Meeting.

  • Next Meeting will be held on 12th September.
